DEPARTMENT of MEDIA STUDIES

The Department of journalism and mass communication offers BA in journalism and mass communication under Choice Based Credit and Semester System (CBCSS-CR) of Kerala University. The students are given sufficient hands on training to meet the requirements of the media industry. The programme objective is to mould world class media professionals who possess probity, positive attitude and sense for content development. For this, a sound theoretical knowledge and skill for media profession and content development and practical training are provided. The department has developed a unique culture of learning process by suitably mixing seminars of expert resource persons from the industry, study visits to media channel visits, personality development programmes,add on in Robotic Journalism & Artificial intelligence, virtual reality sessions, soft skills training, international webinars, workshops,hands on training and value education activities along with the regular classes. The department has two well equipped audio lab and video lab . Students are also given add-on courses to introduce them to current trends in media and new technologies other than what was given in the syllabus. Through our placement cell many of our students are placed in top companies and media every year.
