Online Prime Time Intercollegiate News Reading CompetitionIt's a online news reading competition in English and Malayalam separately for UG and PG students organized by the Dept. of Media Studies in association with IQAC for college students.

Thrive- Intercollegiate spot photography contest.In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent closure of educational institutions, Christ Nagar College's Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) took proactive measures to keep students engaged and foster a sense of togetherness. The IQAC organised a series of online competitions, on every alternate day from 1 May 2020 to 31 May 2020, targeting the students of the college. Spot Photography is organised by Dept.of Media Studies in association with IQAC. It fostered an appreciation for capturing moments of beauty and creativity in everyday life.This competitio was designed to combat inactivity, address the challenges of social distancing, and promote mental health well-being among students and faculty members.

Radio contest to celebrate world Radio Day and the birth anniversary of Sarojini NaiduOn February 13, 2021, the Department of Media Studies and the Women’s Study Unit, in association with IQAC of Christ Nagar College, organised two contests to commemorate World Radio Day and National Women’s Day. The contests aimed to celebrate the significance of radio and the contributions of women in society.The first contest, the One-Minute Podcast Contest, was an individual event where students were invited to voice their thoughts on themes related to gender equality, the role of women in society, and the dowry system. Participants recorded and uploaded their podcasts in English, Malayalam, or Hindi, showcasing their creativity and insights. The second contest, the Radio PSA Contest, was open to both individuals and groups. Participants were required to create radio Public Service Announcements (PSAs) in English, Malayalam, or Hindi. These PSAs aimed to raise awareness and highlight important social issues. The participants demonstrated their talent and creativity in expressing their ideas through podcasts and radio PSAs

The Department of Media Studies and Dance Club, Christ Nagar College, Maranalloor in association with IQAC organized a Psychotherapeutic Dance Workshop, ‘Gestures of Joy: Rhythm Republic’, at Sri Chitra Home for Destitute and Infirm, Pazhavangadi on 26th March 2022 at 3:00 pm. The 3 hour long workshop Called Rhythm Republic was conducted for the inmates of Sri Chitra Home for Destitute and Infirm. The program highlighted the benefits of dance communication and theories of psychology based on the principles of Natyasasthra and Indian classical and folk dance forms . The therapy aimed at the participant's physical, emotional, cognitive, social and behavioral aspects. The inmates of Sri chitra home, who haven't received any training in dance before, sang and danced along with the students and teachers of Christ Nagar College. The concept of dance therapy was conceived by Thara C B, Mohiniyattam dancer and Assistant Professor, Department of Media Studies, Christ Nagar College. Thara CB, along with 20 students and member teachers of Dance Club, Sarada Suresh and Anjitha B Nair, were the resource persons.

The workshop was conducted for the inpatients of Kesavatheeram Ayurvedic Hospital. The purpose of this program was to give the participants emotional relief by experiencing dance based on rasa theory and psychological theories. The therapy provides deeper understanding of body kinetics and non verbal communication. The concept of dance therapy was conceived by Thara C B, Mohiniyattom dancer, and Asst. Prof at Dept. of Media Studies. She herself along with O.K Ravisankar, Film Music Director were the resource persons. The workshop aimed to help participants in various aspects of their lives, including physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and behavioral. The 2-hour long therapy fostered a sense of camaraderie and community as the participants danced and sang along with the resource persons. Overall the workshop was a testament to the power of dance therapy and its ability to transform people’s lives through the language of Mohiniyattom based on the principles of Natyasasthra.
